This painting is really very fresh and light. The dark hair and thickly painted eyes seem to pop off the surface of the lavenders and pinks in the background. I enjoyed painting this girl, she is full of youth, and is literally the very embodiment of the spring season.

There is nothing like the smell of oil paint! This oil painting marks the return of painting in oils for me. Once again the studio smells like linseed oil. I have missed the organic feel of oil paint, and it is like coming home to an old friend.

Happy New Year! The first post for 2010 is of a valley on Oahu. This was the last landscape painting I did for the year. I have many ideas for new paintings and am excited to see where my art takes me for new decade.

Merry Christmas

I know this holiday wish is a couple of days late, but it is still Christmas until the New Year. I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year to come. It saddens me to see people who want to make the Christmas season end on the 26th. I wish we could keep the Christmas spirit all year long. For me the Christmas decorations stay on until the 2nd week of January. This is the birth of our LORD, lets rejoice and celebrate this season.

This painting dates from 1990. I did this in Odessa Texas along with several others in this style. I am thinking that I might revisit this style again for atleast another piece if not more.
