The Yellow Gown

The Yellow Gown 20 x 30 inches acrylic on canvas 2012
I am a sucker for a pretty lady in a beautiful dress. When I first set eyes on this dark haired beauty with her sexy yellow dress I knew that I had to paint her. I love the play of the yellow color with the purples in the the background. I don't know why, but I love to paint pretty girls!

I just love color! The greatest gift from modernism was the permission to utilize pure color.

That Girl

That Girl 11 x 20 inches, acrylic on canvas, 2012
private collection
This was my last painting of 2012. I worked on her through the Christmas Holiday, and have just now photographed her. I like the warm glow of the colors in this painting, and I am also very pleased with the surface quality of the paint.

atomic modern

atomic modern 18 x24in acrylic on canvas 2012
I have come to realize that I am very influenced by the art of the mid 20th century. This makes a whole lot of sense, considering this was time when I was growing up. I was born in 1962 so I was a child of the sixties, and a teen in the seventies. All of the pop culture was up-beat, and full of hope. Life was groovy, and music / radio dominated our choice in media. The abstract art of our era was somewhat tribal, playful, and full of intellectualism. I am exploring this imagery through my subconscious memory, and my belief that through non-object painting, a higher more spiritual art can be realized. The meaning is expressed through the poetry of line, color, and form.

the red satellite

I just love color! I am really happy with this painting. Lately I am becoming more comfortable with the abstract output. At the moment, I am doing exclusively non objective works, and literally loving every minute of it. I can express so much more through the abstract. My mind and my eyes have been opened!
