atomic modern
atomic modern 18 x24in acrylic on canvas 2012
I have come to realize that I am very influenced by the art of the mid 20th century. This makes a whole lot of sense, considering this was time when I was growing up. I was born in 1962 so I was a child of the sixties, and a teen in the seventies. All of the pop culture was up-beat, and full of hope. Life was groovy, and music / radio dominated our choice in media. The abstract art of our era was somewhat tribal, playful, and full of intellectualism. I am exploring this imagery through my subconscious memory, and my belief that through non-object painting, a higher more spiritual art can be realized. The meaning is expressed through the poetry of line, color, and form.

the red satellite
I just love color! I am really happy with this painting. Lately I am becoming more comfortable with the abstract output. At the moment, I am doing exclusively non objective works, and literally loving every minute of it. I can express so much more through the abstract. My mind and my eyes have been opened!

modern still life
bottles 24 x 36 inches oil on canvas 2012
I was talking to a colleague the other day, and during this conversation, I realized that I am "IN LOVE" with design. Because of this I am realizing that subject is not what is important to me. I am painting because I love design, and color. Wow, 50 years to come to that conclusion! I see my work and influences very clearly now.......kinda of a "eureka moment". I cant begin to express my excitement......stay tuned.

California modern
California modern 24 x 30 acrylic on canvas 2012
I have been doing a lot of color experimentation lately. The title of this work comes from the inspiration of mid century plastics. The color and simple design are from my fascination with this retro look. The cool thing, is that I actually experienced this era, and was not only educated with a mid century philosophy, I actually lived it. (I am showing my age here!)
I must say though, the design and overall outlook of the age was much more up-beat and happy. I am not interested nor capable of the depression that seems to permeate pop culture today. Just give me love, peace and harmony.....as we used to say,.........far out,... super cool, and groovy!

strange magic
Strange Magic 24 x 30 inches acrylic on canvas 2012
Somewhat primal...almost tribal......that is what I love about pure non objective painting. This is an art that comes from the deepest sub conscious. A visual poetry. Thought made flesh. Magical and Primordial.
